It has been a crazy roller coaster of a year. Australian wildfires that threatened extinction of various wildlife, threats of a possible World War starting, devastation of crops in East Africa by locust swarms, the death of a renowned basketball player due to a freak accident. These are just some of the major events that have happened already and we are barely past the midpoint of the year. But the event that ground the world to a halt, changing the very lifestyle of billions across the globe, the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

As social distancing has become the new norm, schools such as ours have had to adapt on the fly to government regulations to contribute towards flattening the curve. However, the amount of effort to do so is astounding. Being one of the first few who rolled out an e-learning program for the children, guess how quickly it was done? 3 days. ONLY 3 days. How? Despite being part of the process, I have no idea aside from a titanic effort from the teachers working day and night to get it right for the benefit of the students. The sheer passion and dedication to the craft enable us to complete this task as planned, just in time for the start of the week.

 

I won’t go into the gritty details but teaching online has been such an experience. It pushes our creativity and challenges us to think of more interactive ways to connect with our students. Games, interactive quizzes, videos, worksheet packs and more are just some results of our constant brainstorming to improve the experience to ensure the children still get the same quality education that we preach, promise and deliver.

 

I cannot express how thankful I am to have such a team, or more accurately, a Stellar family, that is able to come together in times of crisis, help one another, and not anger everyone else while doing so.
